A great review from edfringereview.com. What a great night Friday night was!
“Bizarre but a little bit brilliant, The Dirty Pint Pub Crawl is the perfect way to see a different side of the fringe, as well as have a jolly good time.” – edfringereview.com
Ge ready for the last week of the Dirty Pint! Starts again: Monday-Friday 8pm at Joseph Pearce’s on top of Leith Walk
Week two is drawing to a close! We have had quite a journey here. Not only has a lot of the script and some of the characters changed, but the focus of the show has shifted somewhat. While a central story and invisible theatre have always been crucial, we are starting to find ways to really get the audience to participate and role play along in a safe, fun context that allows them to meet new people while simultaneously contributing thematically to the piece with their own custom-build story lines that follow whatever course the spect-actors decide to take. One audience member was thoroughly convinced that he was in fact the only actual audience member and that the rest of the pub crawl were actors, and in the end the audience sat together and attempted to unravel who had been acting the whole time and who had only been enlisted to play a role part-way through. For me, this is the greatest success of the play so far, and represents the potential of pub-crawl theatre at large: creating a social space for audience and actors alike to play, a genuine democratic forum.
So we’ve just passed the halfway mark of the festival, and we don’t know about you but we’re still rocking and rollin up and down Leith Walk, Monday-Friday. The monkey has been in full force, the drinks have been poured from JP’s to Boda, and many a tourist and performer has stumbled back into town blessed with our good graces. If you have yet to make it out, we’re here for another week and we’d love to see your beautiful faces. Be warned, we may kiss them. If you’ve seen us already, you know where to come if you want the cheapest drinks and the best karaoke in town. Keep on trucking fringers, we have two weeks left and there’s plenty to drink and see. And finally, eat a banana, it’ll kill that flu.
There are pictures of YOUR experience of the Dirty Pint Pub Crawl under the “What did you do last night?” section.
We now have a gorilla….
Can’t wait for the show to start again on Monday at 8pm at Joseph Pearce’s, Leith Walk.
